We share our favourite experiences from St. Lucia tours we did during our vacation! If you are researching what to do, read on to explore activities that may also interest you and your family!

We also share what we missed out on and hope to do on our next trip to St. Lucia! So, check out what we did and plan accordingly!

Like all travels, there are many tours and activities to choose from to enhance your stay. You can visit on your own or book activities with a tour (private, small, large). We usually do a combination of both on our travels, particularly to have someone experienced and knowledgeable with us!

The popular “Land and Sea tour in St. Lucia” highlights and combines most of the experiences we highly recommend in this article, in one tour!

St. Lucia is a beautiful island to explore and experience! Enjoy!

Experiences We Did & Recommend

St. Lucia Tours & Experiences: Helicopter Ride

We are so happy we booked the helicopter transfer for our arrival at the Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). Our direct flight to St. Lucia was just over five hours. Instead of an hour and a half by car to our hotel, the helicopter transfer is approximately 10-15 minutes.

The company we used is St. Lucia Helicopters. We booked it in advance, before our flight. Airport transfers, as well as St. Lucia tours by helicopter, are offered.

We got to see St. Lucia from a unique and amazing perspective! My husband and I sat in the front, pilot beside us, and there was another couple seated behind us.

Notably, there are many roads in St. Lucia curved and winding, which we also experienced on our tours. Since I can suffer from motion sickness, unfortunately the drive to the airport for our departure was not comfortable for me!

Therefore, I highly recommend the much shorter, and very enjoyable, helicopter transfer to and from the airport. The transfer on our arrival was so great and fast that we regret not booking the helicopter transfer back to the airport!

Yes, many people may find it expensive for such a short time. However, given the alternative drive, a helicopter transfer may be worth looking into for you as well!

Additional information: Other airport arrival & departure transportation:

Of course, in addition to taxis, there are private airport transfers that can be pre-booked, to head directly to your accommodations or airport. We have booked private transfers on other vacations to save time and travel more comfortably, especially when with family.

Although we did not book Fast Track in St. Lucia when we arrived, it is available. Read our article here for our Fast Track experience in Turks and Caicos.

St. Lucia Tours & Experiences: Mud Baths in Soufriere

Visiting the mud pools and going for a dip in the mud was a must do for us in St. Lucia! Since we went with a tour group, we only had 30-40 minutes at the mud bath. We wish we had more time there and definitely recommend it!

It was a fun experience that also offers natural healing from the mineral rich mud pools!

“The mud is said to detoxify the body and helps heal sunburns, eczema, sore joints and more.”

Saint Lucia Tourism Authority website

We put mud on our bodies and took a dip in the mud bath! Fortunately, the staff and (tour) guides offer to take pictures there, so you do not have to worry about your cell phone.

You may also want to bring a waterproof pouch or case to protect your phone if you do decide to bring it like we did!

There will likely be tour groups coming and going. It is one of the most popular experiences to do when in St. Lucia! And now we know why. It is a “must-do” in our opinion!

Other people with us, on our tour, chose to simply look at the sulphur springs and the “Soufriere Drive In Volcano” while we visited the nearby mud pools.

As we loved the entire mud experience, we were content to pass by the sulphur springs as the tour regrouped and left. The others simply walked by and viewed the sulphur springs, from our understanding.

Experience: St. Lucia Gros Islet Friday Night Party & Fish Fry

We have been to several “Fish Fry” parties, on different Caribbean islands, and St. Lucia’s Friday night party was a fun, memorable evening! If you enjoy dancing and a lively atmosphere, be sure to check out their street party in Gros Islet!

We arrived early in evening with many people already there. People were enjoying the festive atmosphere on a warm, beautiful evening!

*TRAVEL TIP: Notably, a Caribbean “fish fry” night party and experience will possibly not be for everyone. This night party is on the street, at night, with music and crowds made of up of both tourists and locals. We have always enjoyed a Caribbean fish fry during our travels! However, we suggest reading reviews and being informed so you have an idea of what to expect!

Food is sold by locals and vendors which are setup along the road. Freshly grilled and barbequed meat and seafood is available, while some food is already prepared like rice and pasta.

Fresh fish, mac and cheese, and other local dishes are widely offered, in addition to delicious rum punch! We had dinner there and picnic tables were readily available for communal seating.

We also went into one of the lively bars for drinks before rejoining the street festivities. Many places in the area had music playing, outdoor seating, and open doors!

The best part of the night was dancing outside under the stars! There was a section for dancing where speakers were setup and music filled the air! A lot of people were dancing and enjoying the music!

We took a taxi to and from the St. Lucia street party. However, also check with your hotel directly if they offer group transportation. We have gone with our hotel group on other islands. In addition, you can explore booking with a group, with hotel pick-up and drop-off, like below.

Lastly, we recommend bringing cash for food and souvenirs since many vendors do not take credit cards. We bought a souvenir wood carving from one of the vendors as we left the street party!

St. Lucia Tours & Experience: Catamaran Tour

We also went on a catamaran tour and enjoyed snorkeling in St. Lucia!

It was great to explore the waters of St. Lucia and view the island from the catamaran.

Lastly, a catamaran tour also gives you another way to view the famous pitons! In fact, we have a picture of us and the pitons, framed and hanging on our wall in our home from our catamaran tour! It was a great experience and provided a gorgeous photo background!

More Places We Visited:

Diamond Falls Botanical Garden & Mineral Baths

As part of one of our day tours, we briefly walked through the Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens. The duration of this stop was less than an hour.

It was a nice stroll where we listened to a local guide about the history and lush vegetation. The gardens were beautiful to explore and well maintained.

The group also stopped by the Diamond Waterfall to take some pictures.

Not a lot of time is needed here and our group did not try the mineral baths. There is a charge to use the private bath or public baths, in addition to the entrance fee. There are changing rooms and restrooms available, as well as a small gift shop.

Overall, we enjoyed the short stop at this historic estate and walking through the lush, tropical garden.

For Our Next St. Lucia Trip: Tours We Missed Out On

Of course we will never be able to do everything on a week-long vacation simply due to time and budget! We would have liked to experience even more, like hiking, perhaps on our next trip to St. Lucia!

St. Lucia Rainforest Hike

We enjoy hiking on our travels, if we can find the time! Although we were able to see lush forests during our visit to the Diamond Falls Botanical Garden, I would have loved to spend a couple of hours hiking in the rainforest!
