Riverbend Inn is a beautiful Georgian mansion located in Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL).  We enjoyed our two night getaway and share some highlights, pictures, and tips for your own visit. It was a picturesque and relaxing stay in NOTL.

The exterior of the inn surrounded by acres of vineyards was gorgeous. We were welcomed and wonderfully offered a glass of sparkling wine to start off our stay. The interior was nicely restored and elegantly decorated. The rooms were charmingly named after grapes/wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon.

Accommodations at Riverbend Inn

There are different guestrooms and suites available. The inn has twenty-one rooms ranging in size. They include the Premier Room approximately 400 square feet, to suites including The Honeymoon Suite (approximately 610 square feet). For dates and availability for a stay, check here for Riverbend Inn.

Accommodations may have one king bed, one queen bed, or two queen beds.

We stayed in a “Superior Room” for two nights in the summer which was lovely, had a fireplace, and was very spacious.

The rooms are elegantly decorated and may include amenities such as Juliet balconies and fireplaces.

Our room had a beautiful view of the vineyards.

The grounds around the inn are delightful with beautiful vineyards all around. There are chairs and a small gazebo in the back of the inn to enjoy at your leisure.

There are trails for walking and biking nearby that are gorgeous to explore. Also, if interested, be sure to inquire about the free use of bicycles for guests! Bring your own bicycle helmet if you prefer to ride with one as well.

We rode the bicycles to Peller Estates Winery next door, the Niagara River Recreation Trail and surrounding area. During one of our first stays in the area, elsewhere, in Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake, we rented bicycles by the hour at a shop. Therefore, it is definitely nice to have the complimentary use of bicycles for guests!

For a NOTL tour with a professional, local guide, there are combined bicycle and winery tour options also available. These tours are great options for groups also, often seen bike riding in the area in the summer.

Dining at The Riverbend Inn

Oaklands at The Riverbend Inn is the on-site restaurant. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner both to the public and guests at Riverbend. We also included it in our article “Where to Eat in Niagara-on-the-Lake! Our Favourite NOTL Restaurants“!

The Oaklands patio has stunning views of the vineyards as you dine “al fresco”. We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious brunch on the patio on a sunny, summer afternoon in August.

Other Highlights & Notes:

  • Confirm if there is a (continental) breakfast included with your stay – we missed the fine print indicating this inclusion in our booking.
  • Be sure to book reservations at the restaurant even if you are a guest. Reservations can be made with OpenTable.
  • There is no spa onsite.
  • The historic Old Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is a short drive from the inn, approximately five minutes away. We went into town and watched a show at the Shaw Festival Theatre.
  • Andrew Peller Limited purchased the property in 2021. Peller Estates Winery is next door. We recommend visiting the winery for a tour and tasting as well. We have done a few of their tours at Peller Estates Winery and always find the tours well worth it!

Everyone at the inn and restaurant was friendly and provided us with great service. We enjoyed the ambiance and beautiful surroundings of the inn. The Riverbend Inn & Vineyards is a cozy, lovely inn for a relaxing and romantic stay!
