The Iberostar Grand Bavaro is one of my favourite all-inclusive beach resorts which is located in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic! Our review and some beautiful pictures of the five-star resort are shared here. This stay is my third vacation at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro, and I would return again…
Although a stay here comes at a premium cost relative to most resorts in Punta Cana, the resort never fails to provide a luxury escape when I need to de-stress and enjoy a beachfront resort!
Several features of the Iberostar Grand Bavaro resort include:
- All inclusive resort for adults only
- Delicious dining at five beautiful a la carte restaurants, in addition to the buffets options
- Butler service, room service
- Beautiful pools and fitness centre
- Indoor air-conditioned theatre and nightly entertainment
- Other enhancements including spa, golf course, and more!
Beach
The Iberostar Grand Bavaro is located on a stunning beach in Punta Cana, one of the best in the Caribbean. There are always loungers and umbrellas on the beach, in addition to beach waiters taking drink orders from guests. The long, beautiful beach aptly draws visitors from around the world. The sand is soft and waters amazing for swimming.

Resort Grounds
The architecture of the resort is beautiful with elegant, grand décor throughout. The building, pools, gardens, and grounds are well-maintained. There are also shops, a wine bar, and more, for guests to explore and enjoy.
Pools
The pools are gorgeous at Iberostar Grand Bavaro. Choose to participate in an activity or simply relax by the pool.
There are also several bars available for guests including a pool bar, lobby bar, theatre bar, and wine and cigar bar.
Accommodations
There are various suites available at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro, all beautifully decorated. For example, suites may offer lake views, ocean views, and “swim-out”. In addition, suites may offer one (extra-large) double bed or two double double beds. Check dates and availability at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro here.
I have stayed in the “Suite Lake View” room during all my vacations here. The room is very spacious, beautifully decorated, with gorgeous views from the balcony. Highlights include: lake view, private balcony, minibar, full bathroom, and more! Two double beds is also an option for this suite.
Dining
There are five beautiful a la carte restaurants, in addition to the buffets. I have always enjoyed all the meals and the selection and quality of the food throughout the years. The restaurants are all elegantly decorated and make dining each evening feel like a special night out.
Entertainment
There is nightly entertainment for the guests at the resort which is always enjoyable. There are often live musicians and singers, where guests can choose to just sit back and listen, dance, or simply enjoy the moment.
The La Scala theater and bar always has great shows and drinks:

- Sit back as your drink orders will be taken and served as you enjoy the show.
Be sure to check out the performance schedule as there are some really entertaining, great shows that should not be missed while there! The Michael Jackson show and Las Vegas shows are wonderful!
Spa and fitness center
The fitness center has great equipment with ocean views. And the spa has wonderful treatments and facilities available at the resort. We did ask for receipts for the massages from therapists for benefit claims back home.
Other tips and notes:
- Room Category: The Suite Lake View or Suite Ocean View rooms offer great views!
- Iberostar Hotel Upgrade: If you book at one of the related Iberostar resorts in Punta Cana, it may be possible to upgrade and transfer to the Iberostar Grand Bavaro. Inquire at your Iberostar hotel directly in person when in Punta Cana. The hotel can confirm if possible and quote the additional cost per night to transfer if there are rooms available.

- Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Bavaro (includes “exclusivity of reserved spaces and personalized premium services” and also access to Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites services and facilities of the large resort)

- Seaweed and Sargassum: As the Dominican Republic can be negatively affected by seaweed and sargassum, be sure to check the status if you love to swim in the ocean so you know what to expect. The Iberostar Grand Bavaro has beautiful pools otherwise! Unfortunately, seaweed and sargassum can be an issue for many islands and beach resorts, particularly during the summer, for the last few years. It may not be an issue depending on the time of year of your visit; I swam in the ocean each day on this last trip in November/December 2022!
The resort never felt crowded although fully booked at times. It is a wonderful place to retreat to for relaxation, catering to adults only.
The Iberostar Grand Bavaro is an all-inclusive luxury resort I highly recommend and return to because I know I will always feel rejuvenated and relaxed after a stay – thank you for another fabulous stay with exceptional service!
