Niagara-on-the-Lake Restaurants
The Cannery Fine Dining Restaurant at Pillar and Post
Looking for fine dining among the Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurants? The Cannery restaurant always provides us with a memorable meal! It is a beautiful, fine dining restaurant, located in the five-star Pillar and Post.
Every meal has been absolutely delectable, always provided with excellent service. Notably, this onsite restaurant is part of the reason we love staying at the Pillar and Post!
Also, the restaurant is open to the public, not just guests of the hotel.
Our recommendations:
- Slow Roasted Prime Rib – “A Cannery Tradition since 1970” says it all!
- Braised Short Ribs – noted as one of the “chef specialties” on the menu, it is absolutely mouth-watering!
- Marrakech Salmon – prepared with “sultana raisins, dried apricots, honey Marrakesh, pistachio crust”. For me, it was a deliciously different take on salmon that I loved!
Address: 48 John Street West, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON, L0S 1J0, Canada

Tide and Vine Oyster House
We love seafood! So, when we stumbled upon Tide and Vine in search of a seafood restaurant in the Niagara area, it was a wonderfully delicious find!
The restaurant is located away from the touristy Niagara Falls area and away from historic town NOTL. Therefore, despite the drive, we try to dine here whenever we visit the area when craving seafood!
Tide and Vine Oyster House is a casual restaurant which also has an outdoor patio during the warmer months!
Our recommendations:
- Lobster Roll: made with Canadian Atlantic lobster and served with German-style potato salad.
- Lobster & Mushrooms (Sunday brunch only) ! Recommended by our server, it is served on thick challah bread with a soft poached egg. It is decadent and delicious! You’ll be sure to thank us if you like lobster and mushrooms!
- Fresh oysters of course! Freshly shucked, the oysters can be eaten with their house sauces, horseradish, and lemons.
Tide and Vine is located in a plaza, with ample parking.
Reservations can be made through the website:

The Old Winery Restaurant
The Old Winery restaurant serves “Tuscan-inspired” food set in a restored winery.
We have eaten at The Old Winery Restaurant many times over the years. The restaurant’s menu includes pasta, selections from the grill, and pizzas from their wood-fired oven.
Although I want to order other dishes, I love the handmade ricotta gnocchi and order it regularly!
Our recommendations:
- Handmade Ricotta Gnocchi in a Gorgonzola Cream Sauce or Tomato Sauce.
- Beef Short Rib, served with garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, and gravy.
It can be a busy restaurant as the food is tasty and reasonably priced. Therefore, be sure to make reservations in advance to secure a table.
In the warmer months, there is outdoor seating also available.

Oaklands Restaurant at Riverbend Inn
We only discovered Oaklands Restaurant last summer when we stayed for a couple of nights at the beautiful Riverbend Inn.
We had an absolutely delicious brunch on one of the most picturesque terraces from the Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurants and area! We will certainly have to return to try dinner and other culinary delights here! The food was delicious and prepared with quality fresh ingredients, and provided with wonderful service.
Also, Oaklands Restaurant is open to the public and not just guests staying at the Inn.
We had a gorgeous view of Peller Estates Winery and the vineyards as we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
What we ordered for brunch:
- Mushrooms on Toast: featured and recommended in the NOTL magazine that summer.
- Brioche French Toast served with icewine macerated berries, maple syrup, and vanilla Chantilly cream.
- Classic Eggs Benedict with Applewood Smoked Salmon.
- Ice Cuvee Mimosas
*Reservations for the Oaklands Restaurant can be booked on OpenTable.

Trius Winery Restaurant
The restaurant at Trius Winery has always been delightful.
Like many Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurants, the menu here often changes as it varies depending on the best ingredients for the season and area.
We have always chosen the three-course menu. In addition, there is a two-course menu available.
Therefore, if interested before your visit, check the website for the current menu offerings.
Overall, for us, the food and service has always been excellent at Trius!

Kitchen 76 at Two Sisters Winery
Kitchen 76 restaurant is located at Two Sisters Winery. It is described as offering “Italian-inspired cuisine, with a Niagara twist” on their website.
Their menu reflects “ever-changing tastes and flavours of the season.” As such, their pastas and pizzas are always great choices in addition to their seasonal menus.
We had a lovely family dinner at the restaurant for our party of five. Overall, everyone enjoyed the evening and their meals which included seafood, pasta dishes as well as a pizza.
The food was delicious, service was great, and the full restaurant had a nice dinner ambiance.
Also, the restaurant is often busy, especially during the holidays, so be sure to book reservations!
Also, in the summer months, Kitchen 76 also has outdoor seating on their terrace with beautiful views of the vineyards.
