The Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo, and its location in Shinjuku, was excellent for our first time in Tokyo, Japan! We share pictures and our experience from our four-night stay at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo Premier Grand in November 2023.

In 2016, the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo opened the new Club Floor “Premier Grand”. We booked a Club Floor room which includes exclusive services such as private check-in and check-out and most notably, lounge access on the 45th floor with spectacular views.

We highly recommend upgrading to a Club Floor room as that is what really made our stay at Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo noteworthy and memorable. Stays at the Club Floor rooms are also referred to as staying at the “Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo Premier Grand“. Otherwise, please note the location of the hotel is the same as when referring to “Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo”.

Japan was one of our top bucket-list destinations! So A LOT of time was spent researching where to stay and what to do!

After comparing prices, locations, and amenities, we booked the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo Premier Grand several months in advance.

Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo: From Airport

After a long 14-hour non-stop direct flight, we took the Haneda Airport shared limousine bus to the hotel. It is safe, convenient, and affordable.

We booked the Haneda Airport Limousine Bus tickets for the two of us in Haneda airport when we arrived. We did not book the tickets in advance in case there were delays with our flight.

There are several drop-off locations on the route and we were dropped off at the hotel entrance! This was another reason we booked Keio Plaza hotel! Specifically, there was no need to walk to the hotel from another hotel or station. It was great to arrive to a beautiful, comfortable hotel after our long flight. And since we arrived at Haneda airport on a Sunday evening, traffic was fortunately not an issue going into the city.

*TRAVEL TIP: Haneda Airport Limousine Bus
We took the shared airport limousine bus to our hotel and recommend it! The airport shuttle offers convenient direct transportation between the airport and Shinjuku. The bus drop-off hotel locations in Shinjuku, at the time of writing (subject to change – confirm directly with the airport limousine bus schedule, available here):
Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo
Hyatt Regency Tokyo
Odakyu Hotel Century Southern Tower
Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku
Shinjuku Washington Hotel
Park Hyatt Tokyo
Hilton Tokyo

Of course, you can also find taxis at the airport. Private transfers, like below, departing from Narita or Haneda airport can also be booked.

We have booked private transfers on our travels in the past in other countries, particularly when we are with other people like our parents and family!

Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo: Location

Before booking our stay, we were initially contemplating whether to stay closer to the lively areas of Shibuya crossing or Kabukicho. However, after our stay at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo Premier Grand and visiting those areas, we certainly made the right choice for us, particularly in terms of hotel ambiance, surroundings, and proximity to Shinjuku Station. Those busier areas may have been better suited for us in our youth. The ambiance of Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo was better suited to what we were looking for.

Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo is in a quieter area yet only steps from the city action! As such, we found that the hotel is in a prime location for exploring Tokyo. It turned out to be a great base for our adventures, walking distance to conveniences such as:

  • Shinjuku Station ~less than 10-minute walk
  • Department stores such as Keio and Lumine ~ less than 10-minute walk
  • Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden ~ 22-minute walk
  • Meiji Jingu Shrine ~ 22-minute walk
  • Lawsons, 7-Eleven, Starbucks Coffee ~ less than 10- minute walk

*TRAVEL TIP: Private Tour with Government-Licensed Guide
We highly recommend a 6-hour Private Tour with Government-Licensed Guide! We booked two of these private tours, one in Tokyo and one in Kyoto (check back for our articles on each Private Tour). Notably, we booked a 6-hour private tour for our second day in Tokyo, which also made us feel more comfortable exploring on our own! Our guide even met us in the lobby of Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo. The tours were well worth it, especially for first timers like us and have hundreds of positive reviews!

Given all the great amenities of this large hotel, it is not surprising that (tour) groups stay here. We noticed groups during breakfast on the Club Floor. However, since breakfast in the Club Lounge was scheduled and booked in advance, it never felt too crowded, nor did it impact the service we received.

The tours also regrouped in the large lobby but in general we did not feel negatively impacted during our stay. We have certainly stayed at other hotels during our travels that felt crowded and resulted in long waits for elevators. Overall, we always received great customer service and enjoyed our stay.

Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo: Conclusion

The Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo Premier Grand wonderfully surpassed our expectations! In terms of the ambiance of the hotel and our room, prime location, and excellent service, staying on the Club Floor at the hotel was ideal for us. We would return, without hesitation, and book a Club Floor room at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo on our next visit to the city! It was a fantastic and comfortable stay in a great location.

Enjoy Tokyo and happy travels!
