For our first trip to Boston, we chose to stay at the classic Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston! We stayed three-nights at the luxury 5-star hotel, over the New Year weekend! We share pictures from our stay at this landmark hotel in the beautiful city of Boston!
Originally opened in 1912, the historic hotel exudes a classic and elegant ambiance. Since we have visited and stayed at other Fairmont properties, we had positive, high expectations!
Location
The hotel is in a convenient, central location to explore the city of Boston for first timers like us! It is located downtown, in the historic Back Bay area.
There are many attractions walking distance from the hotel such as:
- Copley Square – 1-minute walk (across the street)
- Trinity Church – 1-minute walk, in Copley Square – designated as “one of the ten most important buildings in America” by the American Institute of Architects
- Boston Public Library – 2-minute walk
- Copley Place (Luxury Shopping) – 2-minute walk
- Newbury Street – less than 5-minute walk (to Newbury Street and Dartmouth St.)

Amenities
As expected from a Fairmont hotel, it was elegantly decorated with both classic and modern elegance.
During our stay, the hotel was still beautifully adorned with holiday decor that we loved!
Hotel amenities include:
- in-room dining
- daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- we ordered room service once for breakfast and dinner! Our meals were enjoyable and nicely served to our room!
- On-site restaurant – beautiful and delicious! We had breakfast and NYE dinner here!
- OAK Long Bar + Kitchen
- business center
- Fitness center: approximately 3000 square foot fitness facility. Open daily, 24 hours a day.
- Outdoor deck – open seasonally
- Valet parking services available
- Event facilities
Accommodations
We booked a Deluxe Room, however we were upgraded to the Signature Room!
The spacious room had a Copley Square park view we requested for New Year’s Eve!
Room highlights include:

- Nespresso coffee maker

- Luxury linens and more!
Notably, we also booked our hotel package which included breakfast daily. We recommend including breakfast as we loved dining in the gorgeous OAK Long Bar + Kitchen (read our article on the restaurant -coming soon).
Breakfast was selected from a breakfast menu, rather than buffet in the restaurant. In addition, we were also able to order room-service for breakfast.
Other rooms and suites:
The Fairmont Copley Plaza offers guest rooms, Fairmont Gold accommodations, and Suites. The Fairmont Gold rooms include access to a private reception area, private club lounge and library.
Copley Square & New Years’s Eve (NYE)
Since we stayed during the holiday season, Copley Square, located in front of the hotel was festive and lively!
There were ice sculptures, a stage, and festivities planned for New Year’s Eve!
We were even fortunate to see a parade before the weather dampened…
Unfortunately, it ended up raining closer to the New Year’s Eve countdown!
There were many people like us who tried to make the best of the weather and stayed out as long as possible until midnight.
We enjoyed the parade just before the countdown, and the fireworks at midnight, before retreating to the hotel.
Conclusion
It was particularly wonderful to visit the Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston hotel just after the Christmas holiday season and to ring in the New Year! The property is grand and in a fantastic location to explore downtown Boston.
In fact, we enjoyed the city and our stay so much that I recommended the hotel to my mother when we returned home! She visited Boston a few months later in the spring, also staying at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston!
In addition, the customer service at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston was exceptional from start to finish, both at the hotel and on-site restaurant.
We would definitely return to the Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston and hopefully next time explore the city in the summer months!
