Our stay at the Cross Hotel Osaka was excellent for our first time in Osaka! Located in Minami, the hotel was comfortable and stylish. We were steps away from the entertainment district, amazing food and the main shopping area.

We share pictures from our stay at the four-star hotel in 2023, what we enjoyed, and tips for your own trip!

Cross Hotel Osaka: Location

Osaka’s two major city areas are Minami (south side) and Kita (north side). Cross Hotel Osaka is located in Minami, the city’s most famous entertainment district known for food, shopping, and nightlife!

From the Shin-Osaka train station, we took a taxi to Cross Hotel Osaka which was less than fifteen-minutes drive away. For us, we knew we wanted to stay in this part of Minami, walking distance to the lively downtown area.

The hotel faces Midosuji, which is often called the Champs Elysees of Osaka because of the shopping, many luxury boutiques, and department stores along the street.

If you exit the Cross Hotel Osaka from the back of the hotel, you are steps away from Dotonbori and amazing food, shopping, and a lively area of bright lights!

What’s Nearby

The location of the hotel made exploring, eating, and shopping so convenient! We could easily return to the hotel or drop off items throughout the day.

Nearby places of interest from the hotel include the following and more:

  • Shinsaibashi-Suji shopping ~160 m (~2-minute walk)
  • Glico Running Man sign ~200 m (~3-minute walk)
  • Don Quijote Dotonbori store ~240 m (~3-minute walk)
  • Kintetsu Osaka Metro “Namba” station ~3-minute walk
  • Tombori River Walk ~500 m (~7-minute walk)

TIP: The shopping in Osaka by the hotel is fantastic! Bring your passport for duty-free shopping! So many people in the crowds are wheeling around newly purchased luggage, probably for all their purchases here! Also bring cash for food and shopping as not all places accept credit.

Lastly, of course Osaka is known for food! We ate at restaurants and indulged in Osaka’s famous street food, all an easy walk from the hotel.

Security

Certainly, feeling safe is always a concern when traveling. Therefore, although Cross Hotel Osaka is in a bustling district, we felt safe in the area and when returning each evening to the hotel.

For comparison, it felt different from the lively Kabuicho entertainment district in Tokyo, where we were thinking about staying. Fortunately, we chose to stay in a relatively quieter part of Tokyo, still in a prime location of Shinjuku and had a fabulous stay at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo Premier Grandread our hotel review here! And fortunately in Osaka, we booked Cross Hotel Osaka!

Lastly, we appreciated that Cross Hotel Osaka takes additional security measures, including:

  • Elevator security: hotel card key required
  • Main entrance: hotel card key required to enter from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Cross Hotel Osaka: Accommodations

We booked two nights on the Cross Floor at Cross Hotel Osaka. Our Superior Double Room on a Cross Floor, was quiet and located on the fourteen floor.

The Cross Floor and room had a contemporary style. Overall it was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for the two of us.

The restroom had toiletries and a great Dyson hair dryer, which I appreciated! In addition, when we checked in, there was an amenity bar by the front desk in the lobby. We were welcomed to take complimentary items we needed such as toothbrushes, razors, and cotton swabs.

With a diverse range of guests including adults and families with children, there was a variety of food offered. And although busy, there was always a table available for us.

Also, healthy options were always offered including fresh fruit, vegetables, salads, and juices.

The hotel restaurant served the breakfast buffet from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Cross Floor Lounge

We visited the lounge during our stay, complimentary access for guests staying in a Cross Floor room. We enjoyed relaxing in the Cross Floor Lounge which offered snacks and refreshments.

For drinks, there were alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages such as sake, beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and juices.

Cross Hotel Osaka: Conclusion

This was our first time staying at one of the “Cross Hotels and Resorts” properties. Like all our travels, we prefer to stay at reputable hotel brands and resorts. Ultimately, we had an excellent stay at Cross Hotel Osaka and wish we could have stayed longer!

The location in Minami in the city’s most famous entertainment district, was ideal for us for our first time in Osaka. And everyone at the hotel was friendly and provided us great service from the front desk to the restaurant.

We would certainly recommend staying at Cross Hotel Osaka on the Cross Floor for a comfortable, boutique-style hotel, in one of the best locations to explore Minami!

Enjoy Japan and happy travels!
