Classic and contemporary, Hotel L’Orologio Florence is a 4-star hotel located by Piazza Santa Maria Novella. We share details and pictures from our four-night stay at this unique, themed boutique hotel that is a short walk to Florence’s main attractions.

Hotel L’Orologio Florence: Ambiance & Highlights
The Italian word “orologio” means clock or watch in English. The décor of this elegant hotel is described as “inspired by the magical world of Haute Horlogerie”. Throughout the hotel and rooms, various details highlight the art of watchmaking and luxury timepieces.

Hotel L’Orologio Florence: Location
One of the primary reasons for booking this hotel is certainly the excellent location.
Firstly, we took the train from Venice to Florence. Therefore, being able to walk from Santa Maria Novella Train Station to the hotel, approximately 400 meters away, was ideal.
The Piazza Santa Maria Novella is located in front of Hotel L’Orologio Florence. The Basilica of Santa Maria Novella is one of the most important religious landmarks in Florence.
Perhaps most importantly, Hotel L’Orologio Florence is walking distance to the major attractions in the city. We found the area very pleasant, not bustling with too many tourists, yet very close to the city center.
Attractions such as the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio are less than a ten-minute walk away.

Hotel L’Orologio Florence: Accommodations
There are approximately 50 rooms in this stylish, boutique hotel.

We booked a Deluxe Room which was elegantly decorated and very clean. It was comfortable, approximately 26 square meters (280 sq ft), appointed with mahogany furniture and very nice amenities.
Room amenities include:
- TV, Wi-Fi
- safe, minibar
- Coffee and tea maker
- Additional seating
- bathrobes, slippers and more!
The bathroom was well appointed with marble, heated towel rail, a window that opened, and more.
Like the rest of the hotel, our room was decorated with art highlighting watches, specifically the luxury watch, Patek Philippe!
Hotel L’Orologio Florence: Breakfast
Our hotel package booking included breakfast each day. The breakfast buffet was very good, and we recommend including it with your stay! There were hot and cold options, fresh fruit, and staff on hand.
The breakfast room is located on the top-floor with wonderful views of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella and square. Breakfast is available from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
L’O Bar at the Hotel L’Orologio Florence
The hotel also has an elegant bar, L’O Bar, on the ground floor, which serves drinks or a light meal.
They even gave us complimentary bubbly and strawberries since we were staying at the hotel!
On one wall, it was also interesting to see beautiful images of timepieces projected.
After a long day of exploring the city, it was nice to unwind at the hotel bar!
Hotel L’Orologio Florence: Conclusion
Hotel L’Orologio Florence is not only elegant, but also in an amazing location!
We enjoyed the sophisticated watch theme throughout the hotel which was beautifully done. Located just outside of the city center, Hotel L’Orologio Florence is walking distance, within minutes, to major places for sightseeing!
In addition, at the time of writing, Hotel L’Orologio Florence is also included in the Michelin Guide Hotels for Florence, comprised of 47 hotels! It really is an excellent boutique hotel when in Firenze.
